Heart Attack Symptoms For Women Twice as many women die of cardiovascular disease than from all forms of cancer combined, according to the American Heart Association. Until recently, it was not widely known by the general public that women can present symptoms of a heart attack differently than men, which can lead to later diagnosis for women, resulting in worse outcomes.
As with men, the most common heart attack symptom for women is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain, according to the American Heart Association.
